Join the FCDS Summer Debate Camp and begin your journey to developing skills in public speaking, research, and argumentation. These skills will support you throughout your academic studies and future career! FCDS has an award-winning debate program, competing against the top private and public schools in Southern California through the Orange Country and Inland Valley Debate Leagues. This camp will be utilizing the Middle School Public Debate Program (MSPDP) Format. Students will learn the basics of building strong arguments through the ARESR method and guided research activities. This method is key to creating any well-developed position both within Debate and in many academic classes such as English and History. Students will also learn structured refutation and demonstrate their understanding through practice debates and speeches. To conclude the camp, there will be a Saturday tournament to allow students to practice and exhibit all of their newfound skills. This camp will prioritize understanding and the implementation of concepts! All levels of debaters are welcome, from beginners to advanced. After the initial general training for all students, students will be broken into groups depending on expertise and will receive structured curriculum that helps them improve from their current level. There is a 1:10 maximum student ratio, allowing more direct, personal interaction and support from a staff of award-winning, experienced former debaters! If you are looking to support your child in developing critical thinking skills and confidence, you've come to the right place! LUNCH IS INCLUDED!! Register today! Questions? Contact Todd Clark.
