About This Activity
***HOMESCHOOL STUDENTS ONLY*** CLASS DESCRIPTION Ready for a fun challenge? Come learn the basics of wheel-throwing! In this Intro to Potter's Wheel class designed for elementary students, kids will explore the fundamentals of wheel-thrown ceramics in a fun, supportive environment. Guided by an experienced instructor, students will learn how to center clay, form basic shapes like bowls and cups, trim & apply colorful glazes. Each week builds on the last, encouraging creativity, patience, and fine motor skills. This class is broken down into three 4-week sessions with 60-minute weekly classes and these sessions are meant to be taken back-to-back for a total of 12 weeks, but if there is space available you may do just 1 or 2 sessions. After completing the all 3 sessions, students can decide to continue into Intermediate Wheel or try out something else such as sculpting/handbuilding. All clay, glazes and shared tools are included in the session pricing! Be sure to include the Active Network service fee when submitting your request to your charter school. When registering, be sure to select "Pay Later" at check out.
