In this fun and engaging eight-week course, students will explore the exciting world of computer programming using Scratch, a block-based coding platform developed by MIT Media Lab. Designed specifically for elementary students, this class introduces foundational coding concepts in a creative, hands-on environment. Students will learn how to build interactive stories, animations, and simple games while developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Throughout the course, students will: • Learn key programming concepts such as sequences, loops, conditionals, and variables • Design and animate characters (sprites) • Create their own interactive games and digital stories • Practice debugging and improving their code • Build confidence in presenting and explaining their projects Each session blends guided instruction with creative exploration, allowing students to experiment, collaborate, and bring their ideas to life. No prior coding experience is required. By the end of the eight weeks, students will complete a final project that showcases their creativity and newly developed programming skills. At BrandywineBOTS, we believe in empowering the next generation of innovators through hands-on STEM experiences - and this course is a perfect first step into the world of coding and computer science.
