About This Activity
No prerequisite knowledge of chess needed, and all supplies will be provided. Students will learn the basic rules of play and the fundamental principles of chess at an accelerated pace from United States Chess Federation (USCF) National Master (NM) Otis Wilson. Students will also learn chess notation along with check, checkmate, stalemate and castling, learn tactical motifs such as pins, forks, skewers, double attacks and basic piece checkmates such as queen + rook vs lone king, two rooks vs lone king, queen + king vs lone king and single rook vs lone king.
