About This Activity
No prerequisite knowledge of chess needed, and all supplies will be provided. Students will learn the basic rules of play . This class focuses on making sure each student fully grasps the names and movement of each piece. Students will also be taught the following: check, checkmate, stalemate and castling. Each class will start with an instructional session to introduce new rules/concepts or reinforce previously taught rules/concepts, then will be followed with supervised practice play during which students will play with specific pieces and rules to reinforce what they have been taught.
