About This Activity

Description

The Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks with the East Howard Jaguars Football and Cheer, Inc., will offer a youth cheer program this fall. In addition to supporting the football players, the goal of this program is to promote fun and to learn cheerleading basics by teaching techniques that emphasize safety. The squad will participate in the Mid-Maryland Youth Cheerleading Competition in mid-November. Practice will be Rockburn Branch Park, Elkridge Landing Middle School, Hanover Hills Elementary or Thomas Viaduct Middle School, details provided in welcome letter. Games are on Friday evenings or Saturdays and will require travel. Rescheduled games may be any night of the week. Practices are M-F, starting week of August 9 and will be three days a week when Howard County Public Schools begin. The season will run until mid-November or longer if the football teams make playoffs. Each squad member is issued a skirt, vest top and poms. Players must provide crop top, bloomers, hair ribbon and shoes and socks. All participants must have a medical release form and a photo ID from the MVA or MMYFCL on the first day of practice. A 50% administrative fee applies to requests made July 16-August 13. No refunds after August 13.
