You’re invited into a year of wonder-filled exploration as we turn our attention to the oldest teachers in the landscape — Foundations of the Forest: Rocks and Trees. From stones and roots beneath our feet to canopies above, students will discover how rock shapes soil, soil feeds roots, and trees create shelter and stability for the forest community. Through seasonal play, storytelling, observation, and hands-on exploration, learners will study geology and trees from the forest floor — building strong nature connection while discovering what helps a forest thrive. *Beginning 26/27 school year, families will enroll in Wilderness School Learning Communities as one program, rather than registering for a specific group (Redbuds, Dogwoods, Willows, Maples, or Cedars). This Helps Us: -Create balanced learning communities -Ensure every group has the right mix of ages, personalities, and support—benefiting both students and teachers -Welcome more students into the program (instead of waitlisting based on individual class caps) -Please note: Sprouts (parent/child), Juneberries Preschool, and Oaks Field Study enroll separately and are not part of the Learning Communities placement. - In late summer, we thoughtfully place students into one of our Learning Communities—Redbuds, Dogwoods, Willows, Maples, or Cedars—based on age, developmental readiness, day-of-week enrollment, and overall group balance.
