About This Activity

LEGO WeDo 2.0 & Mindstorms EV3 We prepare our students to participate in First LEGO League. Our students participate in various robotics and coding competitions. Concepts covered: Introduction to building & programming Motors and Gears Gearing Up & Down Pulleys Sensors – Motion, Tilt, Color & Infrared Gears – Crown, Worm Projects with focus on: Engineering Physical Science Technology Mathematics Language WeDo 2.0 Projects Speed Control – This project is about designing programs that will help a race car driver to determine and control the speed of a race car. Fearless Frog – This project is about modeling a frog that can recognize, and escape from, dangerous predators. Dancing Bees – This project is about modeling the dance of a bee that communicates the distance and location of pollen-bearing flowers, and how to return to the hive after foraging. Debug the Floodgate – This project is about designing programs to correct errors in the way a floodgate is working. Rescue Count – This project is about designing programs that can help with counting the number of rescued animals. Reverse and Recycle – This project is about designing programs to make a recycling truck safer for the driver and pedestrians. Smart Lift – This project is about designing programs that will help with the atomization of a factory warehouse. Working Rover – This project is about collaborating with other groups to design and develop a multifunctional space rover for collecting soil samples. Mindstroms EV3 Projects Color sorter – Uses array functions to store and playback data. By storing the color and place of each tile, the robot can sort the objects mechanically using this data. Robot arm – Uses a series of button presses to control the robot. The mechanical limits based on sensors help move the sections of the robot so it knows its absolute position. Elephant – Allows control of robots thru EV3 buttons. A robot walks when up or down buttons are pressed, and picks up an object or lifts the
