3rd/4th Grade Girls Basketball DivisionWe are implementing a resident/non-resident fee for all of our youth sports programs. If you are within Covington city limits or believe you are you must verify your residency HERE to be approved for the resident activity fee.
Our winter youth basketball league is geared toward providing an opportunity for recreational basketball players to sharpen their skills and broaden their knowledge of basketball with an emphasis on fun, participation, and sportsmanship. This division is for our first-time and returning players that want to learn the fundamentals and further advance their shooting, dribbling, and passing skills. Sportsmanship and teamwork will also be strongly encouraged.

Game Days: Jan. 9, Jan. 16, Jan. 23, Jan. 30, Feb. 6, Feb. 13, Feb. 27.No games Feb. 20
Practices: Teams are scheduled to have one practice per week starting the first full week of January. The practice day and time are determined by our volunteer coaches. The practice lengths are also determined by coaches. Practices will generally be 60 minutes. If you have a certain practice day that works best for you, please make that request during registration. We will try to match you with a coach that has a similar preference. No request is guaranteed.
Requests: We allow you to request playing with friends, playing for a specific coach, and certain practice days. We do receive many requests and try our best to meet all the requests. However, we cannot guarantee your request will be fulfilled.
Welcome to the League Email: An email will be sent out after the registration deadline with your league info, practice info, game schedule, and all the other important info you will need this season. You must provide us with an email address that is monitored regularly. The coach will contact you to introduce themselves shortly after.
Divisions: We are offering the following divisions:Kindergarten; hoop height 8 feet-1st Grade/2nd Grade; hoop height 8 feet-3rd Grade/4th Grade; hoop height 10 feet-5th Grade/6th Grade; hoop height 10 feet-7th Grade/8th Grade; hoop height 10 feet
Volunteer Coaches Needed: The more volunteer coaches we have, the more participants we can allow to enroll. You can find the coaching application on our website here: https://www.covingtonwa.gov/athletics/coaches.php. Email athletics@covingtonwa.gov if you have questions.
Facts About Becoming a Coach:- 2-3 hours per week time commitment (practice, games, prep)- You will receive a 50% discount on your child's registration fee- We supply you with all your equipment and a coaches packet- Attend the mandatory informational coaches meeting- Seasons are generally 2 months long- Non-competitive, fun, and instructional
Head Coach Discount: Head coaches receive a 50% discount on their child's registration. To receive the discount, a completed coaching application must be emailed to athletics@covingtonwa.gov. Wait until you receive a confirmation email before registering to ensure the discount gets applied.

Early Bird Registration: Early bird discount window runs until October 27. $10 fee increase after the early bird registration window closes date of October 27.
Registration Deadline: Wednesday, November 24th. After this date, any remaining spots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis; with the late registration fee added on. If you try to register and a division is full, you will be placed on a waitlist. SPACE IS LIMITED! We cannot guarantee spots will be open on November 24th. Sign up early to reserve a spot on a team!
Equipment: We will provide each participant with a team jersey. You are required to provide sneakers and shorts/sweatpants. Practice basketballs will be given to coaches to use during practices. They need to stay with the coach. We are not giving away balls to each participant.
Presidents Week: Due to schools being closed for Presidents Week (Feb. 15-20); there will be no basketball practices or games.
