Covington Parks & RecreationSummer NFL Flag Football League 2025Co-Ed 5th/6th Grade DivisionCovington Parks and Recreation is proud to offer our co-ed NFL flag football league again this summer! This league is powered by USA Football and NFLPlay60. Our league is geared toward providing an opportunity for your child to sharpen skills and broaden their knowledge of football with an emphasis on fun, participation, and sportsmanship.
GAMES:Games will be played at Covington Community Park across from the Covington Aquatics Center. All games will be on Saturdays, with occasional Friday night games.
PICTURE DAY & PPK:Picture Day will be on July 12th. We will hold our PPK event on July 12th while the teams wait for their picture time.
PRACTICES:Teams will practice one day a week for one hour and have one game a week.The early registration window opens on April 8th, and the last day to register without paying a late fee is May 8th. Practices begin the week of June 23rd, with games beginning on July 12th. There will be 7 weeks of games (plus one optional punt, pass, and kick event), with the last game being on August 23rd.
REQUESTS:We allow you to request playing with friends, playing for a specific coach, and certain practice days. We do receive many requests and try our best to meet all the requests. However, we CANNOT guarantee your request will be fulfilled.
WELCOME TO THE LEAGUE EMAIL:An email will be sent out after the registration deadline with your coach's info, practice info, game schedule, and all the other important info you will need this season. You must provide us with an email address that is regularly monitored. The coach will contact you to introduce themselves shortly after you receive the email.
DIVISIONS:Divisions will be broken up by grade (grade they will be for school starting in the fall)
- Kindergarten
- 1st/2nd grade
- 3rd/4th grade
- 5th/6th grade
- 7th/8th grade
EQUIPMENT:Players will receive an NFL team jersey and flag belt. Players must wear their mouthguard and shorts with no pockets. They will not be allowed to play without a mouthguard or with shorts that have no pockets. They can be purchased at Big5, Dick's Sporting Goods, or online. Cleats are not necessary; athletic shoes are recommended.
VOLUNTEER COACHES NEEDED:
We also need volunteer coaches for all divisions! Our program would not be possible without the help of amazing volunteer coaches. The more coaches we get, the more kids we can get registered!
Head coaches receive 50% off their child's registration fee. To obtain the discount, the coach must send in a Coaching Application (which can be found at www.covingtonwa.gov/athletics) and email it to athletics@covingtonwa.gov
FACTS ABOUT BECOMING A COACH:
- 50% discount on your child's registration fee
- 2-3 hours per week time commitment (practice, games, prep)
- We supply you with all your equipment and a coaching packet.
- Attend the mandatory informational coaches meeting.
- Seasons are generally 2 months long.
- Non-competitive, fun, and instructional.

EARLY REGISTRATION WINDOW *NEW*To encourage signing up early, we have created an early sign-up window. Between April 8 and May 7 will be considered the early registration window. After May 7, the registration fee will increase by $10. Registration will close on Tuesday, June 14, and after that, all spots will be filled on a first come, first served basis via the waitlist.
REGISTRATION DEADLINE:Any spots will be filled on a first come, first-served basis. If you try to register after the 14th and a division is full, you will be placed on a waitlist. SPACE IS LIMITED! We cannot guarantee spots will be open on June 14. Sign up early to reserve a spot on a team!

Your coach will hand out the game schedule at the first practice. You will be contacted by your coach mid June.
Recreation and Athletics Refund Policy:Full refunds, less ActiveNet online registration fee(s) will be given for any Recreation and Athletics program postponed, rescheduled or cancelled by the Covington Parks and Recreation Department.
Recreation and Athletics program credits and refunds must be requested at least one week prior to the start of the program. An administrative fee of $10.00 per student will be assessed for each Recreation or Athletics program refund processed.
All Recreation and Athletics program credits and refunds requests made less than one week prior to the start of a program must be pre-approved and will only be given due to an extended illness or injury when verified by a healthcare professional and will carry a $10.00 administrative fee per student for processing.
No program make-ups or discounts will be given for absences. No refunds or credits will be given once a program has begun.
