Covington Parks and RecreationFall Volleyball League6th/7th Grade DivisionOur co-ed fall volleyball league is geared toward providing an opportunity for players to sharpen skills and broaden their knowledge of volleyball with an emphasis on fun, participation, and sportsmanship. The co-ed 6th/7th Grade Division is for our first-time and returning players that want to learn the fundamentals and learn about teamwork! Some skills that will be worked on include serving, setting, digging, blocking, and attacking.Sportsmanship and teamwork will always be strongly encouraged.
Games:Games will be played at Cedar Heights Middle School and Mattson Middle School. Games will always be on Saturdays. Cedar Heights: 19640 SE 272nd St, Covington. Mattson: 16400 SE 251st St, Covington.
Game Days:Nov. 1, Nov. 8 (Picture Day), Nov. 15, Nov. 22, Dec. 6, Dec. 13. Teams will have a doubleheader due to no games during Thanksgiving. (game day subject to change)
Practices:Teams are scheduled to have one practice per week starting the second to the last week of October. The practice day and time is determined by our volunteer coaches. The practice lengths are also determined by coaches, they generally run 45 - 60 minutes depending on the division. Practices will be held at local Covington schools. If you have a certain practice day that works best for you please make that request during registration. We will try to match you with a coach that has a similar preference. No request is guaranteed.
Requests:We allow you to request playing with friends, playing for a specific coach, and certain practice days. We do receive many requests and try our best to meet them all. However, we cannot guarantee your request will be fulfilled.
Welcome to the League Email:An email will be sent out after the registration deadline with your coaches info, practice info, game schedule, and all the other important info you will need this season. It's very important you provide us with an email address that is monitored regularly. The coach will contact you to introduce themselves shortly after.
All Our Divisions:Sign up for the grade level your child will be entering in the fall of 2025.All Divisions are co-ed. Playing up is allowed.- 2nd/3rd Grade Division- 4th/5th Grade Division- 6th/7th Grade Division- 8th/9th Grade Division- 10th-12th Grade Division
Volunteer Coaches Needed:The more volunteer coaches we have, the more participants we can allow to enroll. You can find the coaching application on our website at www.covingtonwa.gov/athletics/coaches.html. Email it to our Athletics Specialist at athletics@covingtonwa.gov once complete.
Facts About Becoming a Coach:
- 2-3 hours per week time commitment (practice, games, prep)
- We supply you with all your equipment and a coaches packet
- Attend the mandatory informational coaches meeting
- Seasons are generally 2 months long
- Non-competitive, fun and instructional
- You receive a coaches plaque as a thank you
- Coaches receive a 50% discount on their child's registration fee

Early Registration Window: To encourage signing up early, we have created an early signup window. Between June 3rd and August 19th will be considered the early registration window. After August 19th, the registration fee will increase by $10. Registration will close on September 17th, after that all spots will be filled on a first come first served basis via the waitlist.
Equipment:We will provide each participant with a team jersey. You are required to provide sneakers and knee pads. Practice volleyballs will be given to coaches to use during practices. They need to stay with the coach. We do not give away balls to each participant.
Recreation and Athletics Refund Policy:Full refunds, less ActiveNet online registration fee(s) will be given for any Recreation and Athletics program postponed, rescheduled or canceled by the Covington Parks and Recreation Department.
Recreation and Athletics program credits and refunds must be requested at least one week prior to the start of the program. An administrative fee of $10.00 per student will be assessed for each Recreation or Athletics program refund processed.
All Recreation and Athletics program credits and refunds requests made less than one week prior to the start of a program must be pre-approved and will only be given due to an extended illness or injury when verified by a healthcare professional and will carry a $10.00 administrative fee per student for processing.
No program make-ups or discounts will be given for absences. No refunds or credits will be given once a program has begun.

Your coach will contact you early October after the coaches meeting. You will receive the 'Welcome to the League' email around the same time with all your team information. Game and practice schedules will be emailed out in the 'Welcome to the League' email. Your coach will have hard copies of the game schedule to pass out at your first practice.Please make sure to attend the first practice. Your coach will have a quick parent meeting to discuss what they need help with throughout the season.
