In Kala's AIS Arts Enrichment Online classes, students will engage in hands-on art making activities using a range of materials and techniques. This session is designed for students K-5th grades. 1 hr class. Art Inside Out / Outside In Join us for a series of fun and interactive classes that explore art, community engagement, and the relationship between the built environment and the natural environment! Using a variety of media such as color pencil, collage, photography, and watercolor, students will create colorful and dynamic drawings, paintings, and sculptures inspired by nature and household objects that make up our spaces inside and out. Working indoors and the outdoors, students will develop their observational and artistic skills, learn to draw from nature and still lifes, identify different plant life/objects in the area, learn about maps, cool diverse artists and artworks, and more! Tuition includes art supplies that can be picked up curbside at Kala or shipped to you for an additional fee. The additional fees depends on location and the lead-time before the sessions begin. Remaining Session: 9/25, 10/2, 10/9, 10/16, 10/23, 11/6, 11/13, 11/20, 12/4, 12/11, 12/18 (No class 10/30) K-5th grade students meets weekly on Fridays from 2:30-3:30 pm. Instructor Bio: Ava Morton is an interdisciplinary artist, writer, and educator from Houston, Texas. Morton’s writing and artistic practices are entwined and often focus on (re)contextualization, subversion, and affect. Her most recent research takes a particular interest in linguistics, sound, and the boundaries of the body. Her studio practice employs the tactics of drawing in space, to build loosely figurative sculptures and videos. She has taught art to young people at SFMOMA, Art4Life, and Art Mix Creative Learning Center. Morton received her BFA and BA in Biological-Anthropology from UC-Santa Barbara, and an MFA and MA in Visual and Critical Studies from the California College of the Arts.
