Instructor: Sheri Quinn This after-school class offers students the opportunity to learn violin, viola, or cello in a fun and supportive environment! Students will learn exercises and songs that enforce string technique, good musicianship, and foster an appreciation for music. Beginning Strings is a full school-year program, divided into three, 10-week quarters, and each quarter will build on knowledge gained in the previous session. Students will perform a concert with other Beginning Strings classes at the end of each quarter to demonstrate what they have learned. Three quarterly payments are due at the beginning of September, December and March. After a year of Beginning Strings, students will be prepared to transition into Jr. Orchestra or the Suzuki Strings program at the Arts Center or private lessons. 5th grade students may transition to the Campus Orchestra at their middle schools in 6th grade. Instruments are not included. For rental information, contact Lane & Edwards Violins: 502-690-5908, www.violinsoflouisville.com Registration with the Arts Center is required, so that school offices can be notified which students will attend class after school instead of riding the bus or going to after-care.
