About This Activity
Join us in our ceramics studio to create functional and sculptural works of art using both the wheel and hand building techniques. This 10-week class is suited for experienced and beginner students. Our studio is fully equipped with six pottery wheels, a slab roller, extruder, an assortment of tools, and a variety of Cone 6 glazes. We will introduce basic throwing skills along with new techniques to students already familiar with the pottery wheel. Beginners will learn how to center the clay and the right technique for throwing mugs, bowls and plates. More advanced students will have individual instruction, acquiring new skills. This course also focuses on key hand building techniques including pinch, coil, and slab construction, plus surface decoration, glazing, and firing.
