About This Activity
Suzuki program includes weekly private lessons & group classes. Students will play select repertoire from the Suzuki books & other styles of music including fiddle, celtic, jazz, & pop. OCSAC Suzuki teachers are registered & trained in the Suzuki Method & other forms of string pedagogy. The Suzuki Program, based on the teaching philosophy of Shinichi Suzuki (1898 – 1998), is a method of teaching instruments that focuses on students beginning at an early age, listening to music before note reading, constant repetition & memorization of music, & learning & performing with other students. It is also referred to as “The Mother Tongue” method because it has a firm belief that Mom and Dad are the teachers at home. The Suzuki Teacher, the Parents, & the Student all have distinct roles and relationships in “the Student-Parent-Teacher triangle." Private lessons by appointment, 10-week quarters. Once registered, an instructor will contact you to schedule your lessons time. Group classes meet Tue. at 5:00 and 5:50 (dependOnce lessons are scheduled, you will be assigned to a group class. Tuition will be charged once lessons are scheduled. If starting late in the quarter, tuition will be pro-rated for the remaining classes in the current quarter. 30 min lessons (+group classes), 10 weeks: $425 45 min lessons (+group classes), 10 weeks: $550 60 min lessons (+group classes), 10 weeks: $695 Fall Quarter 10 weeks: 8/31-11/16. Make-up lessons Nov. 17-24. No lessons Sept. 5 & 7 (Labor Day Weekend), 10/19-24 (Oldham Fall Break), Nov. 25-28 (Thanksgiving)
