About This Activity
7 weeks, 1 hour Class will not meet the week of July 18-22. This is a prep class for auditioning for the Oldham County Performance Troupe OCPT is a group of young people who desire more from their musical theatre training. Many are involved in our youth theatre program as well as various theatre programs in the Kentuckiana area. Each year students are selected through an audition process. Students who elect to take the Audition Prep Class are evaluated throughout the summer ( a separate audition will be held for those students who do not take the class on a single day towards the beginning of the semester). This is why the prep class is beneficial having the entire summer to learn and grow. Being considered for the troupe is optional even after completing the class. Meaning you are not required to be considered. Those students who are interested AND possess the skills necessary will be invited to be a part of The Oldham County Performance Troupe. Throughout the year we focus on helping our students become triple threats through accelerated dance classes, vocal coaching, guest teachers, and performances. Most of our schedule is taken up with weekly dance training What if your child is concerned about the vocal portion of being considered? No worries! All of our students are included in ensemble singing (singing as a group) with others being soloists. The students in our group have different strengths. We will focus on making those strengths stronger and developing those talents that may feel weaker. Everyone who makes the group will study all forms of jazz dance, musical theatre dance, tap, and ballet each week. Our entry level students take fewer classes per week with our advanced students taking the most hours throughout the week. Most of those classes take place Monday-Thursday.
