Picture this: A bunch of sweaty, tired teens are sprawled on a mountaintop, admiring the valley they just hiked through. Now they’re gathered around a campfire eating a meal they just cooked together. Now they’re huddled under a tarp singing loudly over the pouring rain. In every image, there are challenges and the empowerment of overcoming them. In every image, there is laughter and teamwork. This trip is all about wilderness exploration and survival, using only what we carry with us. It’s also about the skills, friendships, and memories we forge along the way. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to help navigate the route and lead our adventure together. They’ll practice core leadership and teamwork skills – including decision making, problem-solving, healthy & respectful communication, and taking initiative. Your teen will come home wiser, more connected, and more capable of facing down challenges. This trip will be one they never forget. No prior backpacking experience is required but will include hiking up to 5 miles in a day with up to 30-40lbs in a backpack.
