Learn. Grow. Shine - behind the scenes.Step into the world behind the curtain and discover how theatre magic really happens. In this 10-week Technical Theatre Foundations class, students will explore a series of hands-on mini-units designed to introduce the essential elements of production: lighting, sound, costuming, staging, and makeup.
Each unit builds practical skills while encouraging creativity and problem-solving. Students will experiment, design, and collaborate—learning how each technical element supports storytelling on stage. Whether working independently within a unit or connecting skills across the full course, participants will gain a well-rounded understanding of what it takes to bring a production to life.
Designed with middle school students (grades 6–8) in mind—but equally engaging for beginner high school students—this class is perfect for anyone curious about theatre beyond acting.
The course culminates in a collaborative project where students apply their new skills to support a staged piece or showcase.
Bonus Opportunity: Completion of Technical Theatre Foundations serves as a prerequisite for CLT’s Spring Directing Class—making this the perfect next step for students ready to grow into leadership and creative vision roles.
