Experienced basket weavers will enjoy the challenge of learning 2 new techniques in this basket: twill weave and how to make the "cat head" shaped base. The instructor will supply brown reed and natural for contrast, but students are encouraged to bring dyed reed of their own, if they prefer another color. Please contact the instructor for specifics. This class is designed for EXPERIENCED weavers only, please, no beginners.We will work through lunch so everyone will leave with a completed basket. Be sure to bring lunch, snacks, and drinks.
Materials to weave the basket will be provided but you must bring some tools with you to class.
SUPPLY LISTPlease note: it is not necessary for participants to purchase a lot of materials before class. Most of these items are found at home.• 2.5 (10 qt.) bucket or 5-gallon bucket• Small spray bottle• 2 old towels, bath size or smaller• Utility scissors or gardening shears• Tape measure/ruler• Pencil• 3-5 bags of dried beans or corn hole bags, small weights or a “spoke weight” • Clothespins• A blunt awl or stubby type (short) flat head screwdriver• 4” zip ties or 10-12 heavy duty clamps • I will have Weave Rite heavy duty awls and clamps available for purchase if participants would like to try them first.
