About This Activity
Description
Coaches: Troy Goddu & Maureen Lucey Our Middle School Ultimate Program is one of the oldest and largest in the state. We continue to field teams with over 60 participants every year! The middle school league is made up of boys and girls in grades 6-8 on co-ed teams. This program is designed to introduce players to the sport of Ultimate as well as improve disc skills and teach the kids to work together as a group. Sportsmanship is paramount in Ultimate as there are no referees. Players learn the rules and make their own calls, using the “Spirit of the Game” to guide their actions on the field. Playing hard is encouraged, but never at the expense of respect for the game and others. The Greely Middle School Ultimate League (GMSUL) runs on a concept similar to Little League in baseball, where teams are set up by splitting all players into evenly skilled teams. Time together is spent on skill development and GU league games. This GU season we have scheduled games against local towns and host our own tournament, The GU Invitational! Our season starts before April vacation with indoor “Learn to play” opportunities for skill development. Once fields are cleared for play (after April vacation), we move outside to Twin Brook (Tuttle Road side). Players commit to Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30-6:30 at Twin Brook. We end the season with an ALL-League celebration in June.Activity Sub-Category
