About This Activity
Period A: Express yourself through Poetry This is an introductory course for campers to explore poetry as a fun and creative form of self-expression. Campers will create and experiment with a variety of poem forms, including haikus, limericks, sonnets, found poetry, and spoken poetry. Through daily activities like free-writing and wiring poems inspired by artwork, nature, and music, campers will build creativity and confidence. Campers will also learn how to respectfully and thoughtfully give feedback to other poets, as well as collaborate with peers to create a collection of poems from the class. Period B: Gratitude Crafts There’s so much in life to appreciate and give thanks for! This class helps kids create fun and meaningful DIY (do-it-yourself) gifts for their loved ones using simple materials and creative ideas. Campers will enjoy crafting unique, heartfelt presents while learning creativity and hands-on skills, all while reflecting on what (or who) fills their hearts with gratitude.
