Register early - This camp fills up quickly and closes at 14 campers! The CIT Program offers a hands-on introduction to the skills needed for future employment as a camp counselor, but also as a responsible leader in any future endeavor. Through a structured yet flexible series of workshops and real camp experiences, CITs learn the responsibilities and expectations of the role while working directly with campers. CITs build leadership and communication skills through activities such as swimming, games, field trips, first aid and child safety training, and leadership workshops. The program is designed to be self-motivated, allowing participants to grow toward their goal of becoming a camp counselor while working under the guidance of a qualified director. As leaders and role models, CITs are expected to demonstrate maturity, strong listening skills, and the ability to follow directions at all times. New campers enrolling in the CIT program must submit a teacher recommendation form (available in the registration confirmation). Current Athenian students and returning CITs are exempt from this requirement. CITs are continuously evaluated, given feedback, and progress in the program as they demonstrate an understanding of camp needs and the ability to complete assigned tasks. Participation in all pool-time activities is required. Completion of the CIT Program does not guarantee future employment with The Athenian School’s summer program, though we make every effort to support successful CITs in pursuing job opportunities. During Session 2, CIT’s will attend field trips with the Summit Seeker and Sports campers. They will also go on 1 CIT-only field trip.
