This developmental program is designed for new or inexperienced participants looking to learn and improve basketball skills in an instructional environment. Each week participants will learn fundamental basketball skills in a practice setting, then participate in an intramural game the same night to apply skills learned. Basic game scoring (team points, team fouls) will be kept. Standings will not be kept, and teams will rotate players each week. Coaches or Officials-in-Training will officiate games. This program emphasizes teamwork, skill development, sportsmanship and camaraderie in a fun environment without the stress or pressure of league play.Holiday Conflicts: Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and Presidents' Day typically occur during the Winter season. No practices or games will be scheduled for the weeks containing Christmas and New Year's. Practices scheduled for Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Presidents' Day may be rescheduled at the coach/recreation center's discretion.
Teams will be assigned based on the number of participants. If the minimum number of participants is not met players will be placed on a team at the next closest recreation center in their region.
