About This Activity
Description
Join us for the Manistee River Backpack Trip through the Huron Manistee National Forest!
Our trip will start Sunday at the Boll Family YMCA to meet. First night will be at the Seaton Creek Campground Group site, where we'll do an intro to backpacking, camp kitchen, tent setup, and group norms. Monday - Thursday we'll star the day with a 'how to pack a backpack' session, then begin backpacking along the Mainstee River Trail, staying on the trial until Thursday or Friday. On Thursday, we'll have an option to leave the trail and spend the last night at a state park (showers, swimming, etc). Friday we'll start the drive back to Boll Family YMCA for pick up.
Keep in mind that the distance we hike each day is flexiable on their route. We can use designated campsites along the Eastern side of the river or disperse camp along the Western side of the North Country Trail. The river trail is beautiful with hemlocks and maple trees dotting the ridges. Although a popular spot most of the year, it is not busy during the week.
After registration, you will get an email from EPACT to fill our camper forms for your camper. They must be submitted prior to the trip.
