Course Description: This course introduces students to the fundamentals of welding, including shop safety, tools and equipment, basic welding techniques, and metal fabrication principles. Students will gain hands-on experience in Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW/MIG), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW/TIG), and Oxy-Acetylene processes. Learning Objectives By the end of this course, students will be able to: Identify and apply standard welding safety procedures Properly set up and operate basic welding equipment Understand weld symbols and blueprint reading Make basic welds in flat and horizontal positions Identify common weld defects and how to correct Bio: Royce B Ledford is a retired skilled worker who has over 40 years of experience in mechanical field. His career includes over 30 years of welding, mechanical, wood working tradesman, electrical, pumps, irrigation and basic construction. Often served in leadership roles over crews, instructing, training and managing work projects. A proud husband and father of four grown children, he values family and promotes education. He is passionate about providing excellent customer service, teaching hands-on skills, problem solving and the confidence to approach mechanical challenges. His goal is to ensure that students learn proper safety, how to utilize proper welding techniques, and how those skills can be applicable in daily life.
