Grade Level: 9 - 12 Length: June 3 – July 12 Final Exam - July 12 NO SCHOOL - June 19 and July 4 Graduation: Fulfills Fine Arts requirement College Prep: Fulfills CSU/UC Visual/Performing Arts “F” requirement with a grade of “C” or better Do you like to build? Take matter into your own hands and learn how to make pottery and sculpture. This course introduces students to the basics of sculpture and three dimensional design, with a larger focus on ceramics. Students will explore a variety of materials, including cardboard, wire, plaster and clay. Demonstrations and slide shows will be an ongoing part of a curriculum plus presentation which are designed to build a skill base and confidence level that will enable students to explore their own creative interests and potential. Work outside of class: Consists of occasional reflective free-writes based on in-class presentations regarding global arts questions. Please note that this is a 1-year course in 6 weeks. Each day in this DPIE program is equivalent to one week of instruction in the regular school year.
