Grade Level: Incoming 9th graders – 12th grade Length: June 9 – June 26, 2025 (13 days) NO SCHOOL: June 19 Graduation: The 3-week course fulfills 1 semester of the two-year PE requirement Note: Students who will be in 9th grade in the 2025 – 2026 school year are allowed to enroll in the DPIE Physical Education course this summer. Please be aware that the state of California mandates that all freshmen MUST take PE during their freshman year. Therefore, the DPIE course will satisfy your second year PE requirement. This means during your sophomore year you will have room in your schedule to take an elective course of your choosing. This course builds on the basic foundation of the ninth-grade core program. The goal of this course is to provide students with an opportunity to choose life-time activities and increase their skill proficiency, strength, flexibility, cardiovascular endurance and conceptual learning specific to each instructional unit. These activities include football, ultimate frisbee, soccer, softball, basketball, volleyball, tennis, and badminton. Please complete the Non-District Course Intent form when you enroll in this class to let DUSD know of your intent to accelerate in the 2025-26 school year. However, if you're taking the class for enrichment only, the form is not required.
