About This Activity
Advisor: Athens Debate Email: info@athensdebate.com This course introduces students to the fundamentals of debate in a supportive and engaging environment. Students explore SPAR Debate, Lincoln-Douglas Debate, and Congressional Debate while developing critical thinking, research, argumentation, persuasive writing, and public speaking skills. Through debates, interactive activities, case writing, rebuttal drills, cross-examination practice, and instructor feedback, students learn to organize ideas, support claims with evidence, and confidently communicate their perspectives. The course prepares students for optional tournaments, where they can apply their skills, receive judge feedback, and continue growing as debaters.
