Instructor: Licensed Instructor from Monkey Bear Yoga Day: Wednesday Dates: Sept. 9, 16, 23, 30 | Oct. 7, 14, 21, 28 | Nov. 4, 18 Yoga literally means “union”. Yoga unites mind, body and breath. Yoga’s benefits are immense. There are numerous physical benefits such as increased strength and flexibility. Practicing yoga poses also develops patience and concentration. Most importantly, the connection between mind and body are deepened in the practice of yoga. Stress is greatly reduced with a regular yoga practice. We are faced with an ever-changing world. Yoga gives children the tools to cope with their emotions and feel in control of themselves. Each class we will explore a principle of yoga; nonviolence, compassion, truthfulness, determination and inner peace. These are big ideas that play a role in our ever-changing lives. Yoga gives us the ability to approach these big concepts through asana (yoga poses) and pranayama (breathing exercises). We will also use part of our time to journal and reflect on our practice. My hope is that your children find a sense of empowerment which sparks joy and lifelong desire to live a balanced life.
