Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet. Contemporary dancers strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements. It focuses on spacial and body awareness, use of body weight, floor work, leaps, turns, efficiency of muscle usage, and safe body alignment.Dress Code: Dance wear or athletic wear that is comfortable and easy to move in is required for this class. Shoes will not be worn in this class; dancers will be completely barefoot. Dance socks must be approved by the instructor and must be a brand such as Capezio, Bloch, Apoolla, or a dance sock with proper support.
