About This Activity
Description
ZINE ALL ABOUT IT!Calling all creatives, makers, writers, thinkers, and people with something to say!Join us for six weeks of hands-on creative studio time where you'll learn how to create, publish, and distribute your own zines. No experience necessary; this is a welcoming space to express your creativity and build new skills. Workshop facilitator Parker Pavitt, has been excited about zines for 20 years and they can't wait to collaborate with you.
What are zines? Zines are handmade magazines/comics/booklets that share knowledge, communicate new ideas, and allow freedom of expression. We'll experiment with art & design by practicing techniques for paper folding, hand lettering, collage, found/recycled materials, mapmaking, comics and more.
By applying these techniques and harnessing the power of self-publishing, you'll have everything you need to make your own media. Both collaborative and individual projects will be part of a finished portfolio demonstrating what you created during class.
Zine Club meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30 - 5:30 pm in the "Maria" Room at the Public Library. We hope you'll join for all 12 sessions but drop-ins are welcome ~ ages 12+
All supplies are included; you are welcome to bring your own note/sketchbook, pens, or other art supplies. Each participant will receive access to special zine resources developed for the course in addition to a complete printed and digital copy of their portfolio.
