About This Activity
Description
Just like hitting the field or court for sports practice, building confidence and skill on an instrument takes consistent repetition - and it's a whole lot more fun when you do it with friends! Designed for 4th through 8th graders, Instrument Gym is a low-pressure, drop-in afternoon session where kids can swing by the music room with their instrument and music, on Wednesdays between 2:20 and 3:20 PM from October 7 - December 16. No class Nov 11 and 25. Whether they want to practice assigned school band or strings music, figure out a tricky rhythm, try something new, or ask questions of local musicians and upper level band and strings students, this space is built to support them. Registered youth are welcome on any Wednesday that OISD is in session - no formal adult sign-out is required. Sessions end promptly at 3:20 PM. Attendees will earn stars and prizes for showing up and putting in the reps. Encourage your young musician to bring a friend, build great practice habits, and discover a lifelong love of music! This program is supported in part by the Music Advocacy Group "Joyce Burghardt Fund" (MAG) and the San Juan County Cultural Access Tax (CAT).
