The dream of making the high school varsity and eventually being recruited to play collegiate softball is very important to many of the best youth and high school players in the Mid-Atlantic Region. The amount of time and financial resources is significant in this pursuit. The purpose of the COA High School Prep “Next Level” Development Camp is to help the aspiring player to identify their strengths and weaknesses in order to progress to the “Next Level” and achieve that dream. Day 1 of the camp will include a “Snap Shot” evaluation of the player’s offensive and defensive abilities. The evaluation will be conducted in the “Collegiate Showcase” format where each player is evaluated in running speed, arm strength/accuracy, fielding ability, and batting. Just like most high school, collegiate, and pro tryouts the evaluation will be based on limited reps offensively and defensively. Because of my extensive experience of scouting and recruiting as a college player and experienced staff, you can trust that my evaluation will be very truthful and accurate regarding each player’s talent level. The written evaluation will be short and simple. Day 2-4 will be designed to instruct the players in “Next Level” performance. Each player will have the opportunity to work at 2 different defensive positions. All players will receive instruction and practice in hitting, baserunning, and speed/agility/strength development. Live batting practice and situational games will end each day’s session. Friday, July 19 will be a make-up day if necessary.
