About This Activity
Description
PLEASE DO NOT REGISTER FOR SIDELINE CHEER IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO REGISTER FOR COMPEITIVE CHEER.
The Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks, in partnership with East Howard Jaguars, Inc., is excited to offer a youth sideline cheerleading program this fall. This program is designed to introduce participants to the fundamentals of cheerleading while focusing on performance skills and gameday spirit.
The primary role of the sideline cheer team is to support East Howard Jaguars football games by leading cheers and promoting team spirit. Participants will learn age and skill appropriate cheers, jumps, stunts, and pyramids. While tumbling will not be formally taught by the coaching staff, athletes with prior experience and mastered tumbling skills may be permitted to incorporate them during games and performances.
No prior cheerleading experience is necessary—just bring your energy and enthusiasm!
• Price: $199 (includes Practices and Mid-Maryland competition)
• Four (4) month commitment (August 4th through mid-November)
• Summer practices will start on August 4th at Troy Park in Elkridge.
• For the month of August ONLY, practices will run Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays
o Ages 5 & 6: 6:00 to 7:00 pm
o Ages 7-14: 6:30 to 8:30 pm
• Starting August 26th, practices will be twice a week and will run through November.
o Practices will be held at Thomas Viaduct Middle School or Bellows Spring Elementary
o Exact practice locations, times, and days for the fall will be released mid August.
o All regular season practices and games are required, unless otherwise excused by a coach
• Uniforms will be provided to athletes to borrow
o Cheer bows will be included with registration
o Athletes will need to purchase white no shoe socks, and white cheer shoes
• All participants must have a photo ID from the MVA or MMYFCL no later than September 1st. Games will start on Saturday, September 6th and will be held every weekend through mid-November. IDs must be received in order to participate.
o Games are typically held on Friday evenings or Saturdays and may require some local travel.
• The Mid-Maryland Competition will be held in November.
REFUND POLICY: A $29 administrative fee applies to all refund requests made prior to July 19. A 50% administrative fee applies to requests made July 19-August 26. No refunds after August 26th.
