We begin the year by learning about Me & My Family, then explore Communities & Community Helpers —the people who help our neighborhoods. Students will discover different homes, Transportation, & Entertainment, and learn why we have Rules & Laws and the importance of Rights & Responsibilities. Through class activities and a mock vote, we’ll explore voting and making group decisions. Students will also be introduced to Maps & Map Symbols, explore Past, Present, & Future, and learn about basic economics, including Wants & Needs and Goods & Services. At the end of the 8 week session participants will have a portfolio so show evidence of learning.
