3 FUN-FILLED AFTERNOONS: FITNESS, FOOD & FUN!Nutrition/Cooking Portion of CampDay one: Pizza Garden: create your own pizza garden to take home and build your own pizza to enjoy that day. Day three: Eating Under the Rainbow: build your own smoothie and snack station and sample all creations from fruit smoothies to dips and sauces. Objectives: 1) participants will learn basic food measurements and recipe preparations, kitchen safety and cleanliness. 2) participants will develop gardening skills to maintain the their garden and grow their own foods. 3) participants will be able to distinguish the difference between functional foods and fun foods.
Fitness Portion of CampThe students will explore various fitness and sports activities in an open-play environment. Staff will lead them through drills and games that encourage teamwork, communication and leadership. They will be introduced to the basics of basketball, volleyball and soccer or futsal, using the last 30 minutes of each day to play an official game.The students will also participate in fitness drills that encourage cardio and strength conditioning related to various sports. No weights will be used. They will lead each other through games that promote teamwork to complete a task, such as getting through a small obstacle course.Day One: Tuesday, June 22nd: after class time, we will have an easy stretch and cardio warm up on the walking track outside. We will then move to the basketball gymnasium for games and drills designed to introduce the basics of volleyball.Day Two: Wednesday, June 23rd: throughout the first half of the day students will participate in fitness drills that encourage strength and cardio conditioning related to various sports. They will lead each other in games that promote teamwork to complete a task, such as getting through a small obstacle course. After a 30-minute snack break, they will participate in games and drills that are designed to introduce futsal.Day Three: Thursday, June 24th: after class time, we will have an easy stretch and cardio warm up on the walking track outside. We will then move to the basketball gymnasium for games and drills designed to introduce the basics of basketball. **Parents and siblings are encouraged to join in during the last 30 minutes of each day. ALSO - Students who register for this camp will have free admission to Family Sports Day on Saturday July 26th. More information will be emailed after registration.
**AGES 8 - 12 , ALL SKILL LEVELS WELCOME**This is not an instructional sport camp, it is intended to introduce students to the basic elements of basketball, volleyball and soccer/futsal. Any outdoor activity will be moved inside in the event of inclement weather.
No Credits or Refunds can be given without a 48 hour written notice to sharon.carolan@williamsoncounty-tn.gov prior to the start of class.
