Join us for a week of immersion in the wilderness in this iconic Whole Earth camp. Shoot bows and arrows like the Greek goddess of wild animals and wilderness, Artemis! Practice outdoor skills like fire making, knot tying, and navigation! Connect with your crafty side through nature art, leather working and carving! Embrace the darkness with songs and night games! At Camp Artemis we explore and empower the feminine, while recognizing that gender is a constellation, unique to each one of us. During this special week we create a space where each of us can welcome, celebrate and share our unique-ness. We also have a darn good time in the woods! Camp Artemis is open to girls (including trans and cis girls) and non-binary, genderqueer and gender-questioning kids Camp Artemis is held at a secluded spot at the foot of the Cascades, among grassy meadows and beautiful forests hung with lichen, and bordered by Little Fall Creek. All campers will sleep in 6-person wall tents, with a Junior Counselor as mentor and helper for each group. This rustic location offers campers the opportunity to practice the essential outdoor skill of hardiness - as there is no running water, no showering facilities, and porta-potties for bathrooms. We will spend the week learning to embrace the elements of nature! Bring clothes that can get dirty, plenty of sunscreen and bug repellant, and a sturdy sense of adventure. Drop-off will be 9am on Monday morning at Mt Pisgah, as part of our usual day camp procedures. Campers will be transported by van to the site. At the end of the week families will get a glimpse of camp life when they come out to pick up their students on Friday at 4pm.
