Bring your little one to hand-build their own clay wind chime and discover the science of ceramics. In this hands-on, three-part series held on Saturdays 9/12, 9/19 & 9/26, young artists will explore the four classical elements — Wind, Earth, Fire, and Water — through the art of ceramics. Using slab techniques and cookie cutters, participants will hand-build their own wind chime pieces, then return to glaze and finally assemble their kiln-fired creations. For this age group, the focus stays sensory and tactile: feeling the clay, watching it dry, and learning how pottery brings together earth, water, and fire. Participants must attend all three Saturday sessions to complete their piece. About the Collaboration This workshop is a partnership between MudHut Ceramics Studio, a Fort Bragg ceramics studio founded in 2024, and Flockworks, a nonprofit that has brought free, accessible arts programming to the Mendocino Coast for over fifteen years. MudHut's artists provide clay expertise, kiln access, and hands-on instruction, while Flockworks coordinates scheduling and community outreach. This workshop is offered free of charge thanks to the generous support of the Sonya Popow Memorial Fund.
