Youth Wrestling Ages 4 to 7, coed. No experience needed, but recommend kids know how to do a somersault. This is a beginner wrestling class for young kids. We’ll start first with getting comfortable on the mat: there's a lot of crawling around, rolling, and learning how to fall without getting hurt. From there we’ll work on building foundational wrestling skills: they’ll learn about their stance, how to move, how to take a partner down, how to maintain control, how to get out if you’ve been taken down. There's no hitting or kicking in wrestling. Kids are paired up by size and a coach will be on the mat with them the whole time. For kids who are interested: there is a tournament on December 13 in Willits. What to bring Close-fitting athletic shorts / t-shirts. Fingernails trimmed. Remove all jewelry that can get caught. Water. Kids wrestle barefoot so no shoes are needed on the mat. They can wear wrestling shoes if they have them.
