About This Activity
The Junior Counselor in Training (JCIT) program at Lorrimer Sanctuary offers pre-teens and young teenagers an opportunity to develop leadership skills while gaining hands-on experience in environmental education and youth mentorship. Participants work alongside experienced staff to assist with nature-based activities, trail maintenance, wildlife observation programs, and camper supervision. Through this immersive experience, JCITs learn valuable skills in outdoor education, group facilitation, and conservation stewardship while fostering a deeper connection to the natural world. The program emphasizes personal growth, teamwork, and environmental responsibility, preparing young leaders to become the next generation of nature advocates and educators.
