This four-day camp invites young animal lovers to explore the shelter world through fun, hands-on activities and plenty of curious critters. Each day brings a new theme as campers discover how shelters help pets, learn all about dogs and cats, and practice being kind and gentle with animals. With interactive lessons, creative games, and supervised time with friendly shelter pets, kids build confidence while having a great time. By the end of the week, they’ll leave with big smiles, new knowledge, and a heart full of compassion for animals. While every effort will be made to give campers plenty of time with our cats and dogs, the length and frequency of hands-on interactions depend on the safety and availability of calm, confident shelter pets.
Location: Williamson County Animal Center; 1006 Grigsby Hayes Court, Franklin, TN 37064
Camp Basics:Be sure your camper is dressed appropriately for a day in the shelter and animal interaction. Closed toed shoes are required.
Because of our interactions with animals and the environment of the shelter, we are unable to accommodate any animal and/or food allergies participants may have.
Time in our adoption center is very limited and closely monitored. Participants will have daily opportunities for contact with dogs, cats, or critters, but shouldn't expect to spend significant time with animals.
Campers will need to bring a lunch and snacks each day. No refrigeration or heating is available.
Campers who bring cell phones with them to camp may only use their phones to contact parents in the case of an emergency. Calling or texting during activities will not be permitted.
Participant Behavior:
While at our programs, all participants are expected to treat other participants, WCAC staff, and animals with respect and compassion. Behavior guidelines will be reviewed with participants. Children and adults who are consistently unable to follow these guidelines may be asked to leave or may be dismissed for the remainder of the session. No refunds will be available to campers who are dismissed for behavioral reasons.
We have zero tolerance regarding fighting or using an object as a weapon. Violation of these policies is grounds for immediate dismissal from camp. No refunds will be available to campers who are dismissed for a violation of these policies.
*All registration cancellations must be submitted in writing no later than 1 week prior to the start of the program. No credits or transfers will be processed less than 1 week before the date the program is scheduled to begin.
