NOTE: You are registering for the Monday night STAR Program class at the Franklin Rec Center in Franklin.For the fall of 2026, the STAR Program classes will offer Shrek The Musical KIDS, based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film and fantastic Broadway musical. It's a "big bright beautiful world" as everyone's favorite ogre, Shrek, leads a cast of fairytale misfits on an adventure to rescue a princess and find true acceptance. Once upon a time, in a far away swamp, there lived an ogre named Shrek. One day, Shrek finds his swamp invaded by banished fairytale misfits who have been cast off by Lord Farquaad, a tiny terror with big ambitions. When Shrek sets off with a wisecracking donkey to confront Farquaad, he's handed a task — if he rescues feisty princess Fiona, his swamp will be righted. Shrek tries to win Fiona’s love and vanquish Lord Farquaad, but a fairytale wouldn't be complete without a few twists and turns along the way.
This program offers 10 weeks of class with 2 performances per class: 1 on the last night of class and one the following weekend. The last two weeks of all classes and all performances will be at the College Grove Artsitorium.
Performance schedule is: • Franklin Class – Monday, 12/7 at 7pm and Friday, 12/11 at 6:30pm • Nolensville Class – Tuesday, 12/8 at 7pm and Sat, 12/12 at 1:30pm • College Grove Class – Wednesday, 12/9 at 7pm and Sat, 12/12 at 4pm • Enrichment Center Class – Thursday, 12/10 at 7pm and Sat, 12/12 at 6:30pm
(Note: Classes will not meet October 12-15, November 11, or November 23-26.)
*There is an additional $25 supply fee that should be paid directly to the instructor at the first class meeting.
There is a $25 sibling discount (after first child) if siblings register in the same transaction. Participants may purchase the optional show shirt for $15 at registration.
Participants should bring a labeled water bottle to class and are welcome to bring a non-messy, nut-free snack each week.
Note: If younger than 3rd grade, can “grandfather” if have participated in a STAR Program production previously.
Please note: These classes are a commitment. Please make sure that you and your child are committed to attendance (unless sick) at all rehearsals and both performances.
Shrek the Musicl KIDS is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI. www.mtishows.com
Refund/credit/transfers must be processed through Alison Worden (alison.worden@williamsoncounty-tn.gov) a minimum of 48 hours prior to the first class session.
