This homeschool class, with Ms. Esther and her service dog Coco, blends science and drawing to teach students the power of observation. More than just an art class, scientific illustration trains students to see the natural world with the eyes of a scientist - attention to detail, structure, and function. Through hands on activities, students will closely observe plants, insects, shells, bones, and other natural specimens, learning to translate their observations into accurate and thoughtful illustrations. The focus will be on process; how to look closely, ask questions, and record findings visually in a clear, consistent, and scientific manner. Students will bring home a portfolio at the end of the 6 week session to show evidence of learning.
