This week, we will have fun creating and experimenting with Art & Science in nature! We will offer various art activities as well as fun science and engineering challenges. Kids will be invited to design and build different types of small watercraft using materials from nature and test their buoyancy and durability as we send them downstream in Frost Gully Brook. We will experiment with making miniature bridges and testing their strength and flexibility, as well as experimenting with building debris shelters and fairy houses. Participants will play with the principles of buoyancy, density, and engineering through trial and error while having lots of fun playing in nature. Other nature science topics may include animal habitats, volcanoes, and weather. Art projects will range from watercolor painting to flower crowns to clay and leather creations. Additionally, there will be time each day for unstructured, self-directed learning, play, and exploration of and in the natural world. Note: Participants should be 9 years old by the start of the session in order to participate in this program.
