About This Activity

This class is for: Performers of all levels seeking to explore a movement-based approach to performance that helps actors move out of overthinking and into presence. Somatic acting technique works with breath, movement, and nervous system awareness, helping performers learn to create from impulse, authenticity, and connection rather than control. This class is: Part One: Grounding & Impulse | JUN 3-17 A focus on breath, nervous system awareness, and physical instinct– building a foundation of presence before text or analysis. Interested in the rest of the series? See below for more information: Part Two: Release & Expansion | JUN 24-JUL 8 The exploration and gentle release of habitual tension and holding patterns that limit emotional range and expression. Part Three: Connection & Responsiveness | JUL 15-29 Strengthening whole-body listening and relationship through devised ensemble work and choreography. This class is taught by: Ash Felkner, creative producer, movement director, and award-winning actress working across stage and screen, currently based in London and recently starring in the upcoming feature film The Viewing (2026). A Fort Worth native with a BFA and an MA (with Distinction) in Acting, Ash trained directly under Somatic Acting founder Christina Kapadocha and is passionate about helping performers reconnect with the body as a source of impulse, authenticity, and expression.
