About This Activity
Description
Earth Academy Day Camp is offered at Morningside Nature Center's 416-acre nature sanctuary and uses hands-on activities that teach about nature, culture, and history. Off-site trips to City of Gainesville Nature Parks and Florida State Parks are often used to enhance and broaden the experience of our campers. Our interdisciplinary, experiential teaching approach and low teacher-to-student ratio allow us to awaken your child's natural curiosity and encourage a personal environmental ethic and appreciation. Earth Academy is brought to you by the City of Gainesville's Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs. Instructors are career educators and science professionals experienced in working with children. Earth Academy campers must be in grades 1-6. (For rising 7th-12th graders, we offer our Junior Naturalist program--applications open in early Spring and can be found on our website.) Camp programming is offered Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Early drop-off is available at 8 a.m. and late pick-up is available until 5:00 p.m. Please note that camp communications and schedules will be sent via email to the customer email on file the week before camp begins.
