About This Activity

Six IN-PERSON Sessions September 17, 24, October 1, 15, 22, 29 (Does not meet October 8) Siamese Mah Jongg is a two-player adaptation of traditional American Mah Jongg. Instead of each player managing one rack, each person plays two walls, two racks, and two hands at the same time. Think of it as “Mah Jongg doubles tennis played solo.” One brain. Two racks. Endless tile aerobics. Players work cooperatively with themselves by building two separate hands while strategically using discards from both sides. Participants must have been playing four-player American Mah Jongg regularly and without assistance for at least 6 months prior to registering for this course because it is an advanced and fast-paced version of the game. Robin Freeman has been playing American Mah Jongg for 15 years and has loved teaching the game for the past 3 years. Before retiring, she worked as an IT professional with an engineering background, which helps her break the game down in a clear, logical, and easy-to-learn way.
