Learn about the flavors of African cuisine in this hands on cooking class. The menu will focus on Nigerian delicacies such as West African Peanut Stew (Mafé), Jollof Rice, Sambusa (Savory Pastries) and Mandazi (Swahili Coconut Doughnuts).
Chef Tisha Djissenou is a passionate culinary creative and the visionary behind Versatile LLC, a minority woman-owned catering brand rooted in culture, community, and craft. With a talent for blending African, Caribbean, and global flavors, I design bold, made-from-scratch menus that celebrate heritage while elevating the everyday. From intimate gatherings to large-scale events, Versatile LLC brings a modern twist to traditional dishes — all while prioritizing freshness, flavor, and a soulful customer experience.
This is an in-person hands-on class. Participants will work with the chef instructor in our kitchen to prepare the recipes listed in the class description. Everyone will then get to enjoy these recipes together.
For your safety, we ask all students wear close toed, no slip shoes to this class
No refunds will be granted for Let’s Cook@Casey programs. A one-time registration transfer is available to a Let’s Cook@Casey class of equal value if the exchange request is submitted in writing to LetsCook@gaithersburgmd.gov no less than 48 hours before the scheduled program time.
