We are eager to welcome aspiring ballet dancers back to BlackRock for a ten week program offering weekly dance instruction under the direction of Nana Edu. Through grant funding, students will also have the opportunity to expand their knowledge of the world of ballet with a screening presented by Royal Ballet and exclusive meet-and-greets with guest speakers on BlackRock’s Great Lawn. To conclude the session, dancers will have the opportunity to demonstrate what they have learned in a live and/or streamed final performance in our BlackBox Theater.
Students begin to learn basic ballet technique and terminology through exercises at the barre and center floor. Skills such as plié, tendu, relevé, port de bras, jumps, turns, leaps, are explored as students learn fun dances.
Students will enter the BlackBox Theater directly from the back parking lot. Students will need to complete a COVID Waiver prior to attending each class. Dancers are encouraged to use the restroom prior to attending class. All participants will be required to complete a COVID waiver prior to the start of each class. Double or filtered masks are required for the duration of the lesson.
