About This Activity

Description

Session 2: Intermediate Intensive

Levels 3/4

Designed for dancers at levels 3 and 4, this Intensive also focuses on developing a dancer’s classical ballet technique including pre-pointe, character dance, mime, free movement, and repertoire. Intermediate dancers will build background experience through ballet stories and learning the history of ballet. Dancers will take a closer look at costume design and scenery. Each day will be an exciting combination of dance and engaging lessons.

Please note:

Students must have previous taken ballet classes in order to register for this camp. This camp is appropriate for students who have taken Young Artists Ballet levels 3 and 4. If your camper has taken ballet classes at a different school, please contact us at educationdept@blackrockcenter.org to determine if this camp is the appropriate level.

Campers will need to come to camp dressed in our required dance attire. After lunch they will have an opportunity to change into their "street clothes" which should be appropriate for crafts and art activities.

Required Dance Attire:

Girls: Black leotard, pink tights, pink ballet slippers, and hair in a bun if applicable. Please no skirts, tutus, or jewelry.

Boys: White t-shirt, black tights with black ballet shoes or black dance shorts with white socks and black ballet shoes.

Street Attire:

Campers should bring comfortable clothes to change into after lunch. These items can include t shirts, shorts, and sneakers. Campers may be painting or working with materials that can stain. Flip-flops, sandals, and crocs are not permitted.

The required dance attire is the same that is used for our ballet classes during the year. If your child wishes to continue taking ballet here at BlackRock, they will prepared!

Camp Reminders:
All BlackRock Center for the Arts camps are nut-free. This includes peanuts, tree nuts (cashews, almonds, walnuts, pecans, etc.), items cooked in peanut oil and nut spreads and butters like peanut butter and Nutella. Please make sure to not pack anything containing nuts or nut products in your camper's lunch.
Camp runs from 9:00am to 3:30pm. Before Care is from 7:45am to 9:00am and After-Care is from 3:30pm to 6:30pm. Your child must be registered in Before Care or After Care in order to participate.
Every child needs to be signed in and out by a parent or approved guardian every day. Dropping off a child and driving away is not permitted under any circumstance. For Before Care you may enter the building at 7:45am. For regular camp, you may enter the building beginning at 8:45am. Campers must be picked up promptly at 3:30pm unless they are enrolled in After Care. Students enrolled in After Care must be picked up promptly at 6:30pm or before. Failure to pick up your child on time will result in the charging of late fees.
Your child needs to bring a lunch and bottled water with them every day. Please label lunch bags or boxes with your child's name. Lunches will be refrigerated and campers will not have access to microwaves or ovens. Please do not pack anything that needs to be heated and make sure to include spoons and forks if needed.
